I am an experienced psychotherapist working with clients in person in Edinburgh and on-line. (no wheelchair access) I am fully trained in the provision of remote therapy.
My primary mode of working is psychodynamic, I suppose that resembles the traditional psychoanalytic approach that most of us associate with therapy. However, psychodynamic, for me, is focused on the behaviours and emotions linked with our current problems.
I also offer EMDR therapy for trauma experienced clients.
My interest in therapy started a long time ago when I undertook my degree in Psychology. I was in my 20s then and I just didn’t feel I had the life experience to go into providing therapy at that stage of my life. For 20 years I worked as a successful project manager and took my chances to tour the world and live in other places. It was in my 40s that I decided I was ready to go back to this career. Since finishing my training I have worked in different areas of the profession and worked with different client groups. I currently work at the University of Edinburgh, providing therapy for the students.
Why choose me?
While training, I underwent a few years of therapy myself. I understand how hard it can be and can help through the process to enable real and lasting change. I don’t judge and am open to any information or thoughts that you bring. I won’t be shocked.
In addition to have space to explore your personal and interpersonal experiences, I hope to find strategies that help you enhance your ability to live happily and productively. Depending on your needs, we may find it useful to adopt a Cognitive Behavioural approach to manage the change you desire.
No obligation consultation session or phone call: If you decide to go ahead with therapy, clear agreement will be reached on all contractual issues.
I am experienced in short term therapy and this is usually for a period of 6 weeks at a time.
I try to promote diversity and inclusion as a core value in my work. I recognize all types of diversity including and not limited to size, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, class, citizenship status, religion and abilities.
I am fully compliant with GDPR requirements and a privacy notice regarding management of data is available on request.
If you are currently in crisis, please contact the Samaritans or go to your GP, the situation cannot wait.
I am not a medical doctor, if you need medical assistance please consult your GP.
